Mission Statement: Design Philosophy

Professor Steffen Lehmann believes that sound environmental strategies are consistent with good architectural design. He believes that by incorporating ecologically sustainable principles into the design and construction of buildings, living and working conditions can be significantly improved. Other benefits such as improved productivity due to working in natural light, better air quality, physical comfort and greater connectivity with the outdoors, are also gained. Buildings using these design principles are notable for their simplicity, performance and fitness for purpose.

Steffen has a passion for cities. Since 1993, he has been actively involved in the architectural creation of the 'New Berlin', where his office was particularly concerned with:

the development of new building strategies for future workplaces,
the improvement of linkages to public spaces, and
the search for the identity of the post-industrial city.
